COVID-19 Test Disposal

The Client

Make One are the UK’s leading specialists in the refurbishment of Listed Buildings across all sectors. Formed in 2004, Make One has since tripled in size and established an enviable track record in new build, refurbishment and fit out in both the residential and commercial sectors. With a commitment to their people, Make One pride themselves on their working standards and always operate safely, considerately, and excellently.

The Challenge

In December, Make One were amid several major refurbishments that were due to continue in the new year. With numbers of COVID-19 cases rapidly increasing, Make One turned to Encore Environment to find a solution that would allow them to continue to operate sites, whilst keeping their employees’ safety and wellbeing a number one priority.

The Solution

At Encore, we are aware that with the pandemic brings more requirements around waste away and compliant disposal. With this in mind, Encore arranged for the delivery of  secure hazardous waste bins to each site prior to Christmas – allowing time for the client to complete testing on all site operatives following the Christmas break.

The hazardous waste bins provided were 50 litre clinical waste containers with secure lids to ensure that once a used COVID-19 test has been disposed of it cannot be retrieved again.

Once all employees had been tested, Encore also arranged collection and safe disposal of the bin and contents, as per the EA guidelines.

The Results

We completed successful COVID-19 test disposal services for Make One Group by adapting our services to ensure hazardous waste bins were on site in time for the workforces’ return, allowing everyone to be tested negative prior to recommence works on site.

Encore continues to work with clients, including Make One Group, to provide safe disposal of all current types of COVID-19 tests. We purchase a brand new bin for each site to avoid any danger of contamination and recommend testing bins are to be collected or emptied every two weeks, in line with the Environment Agency standards.

In such a challenging time, it is absolutely essential to keep construction safe, but also moving forward efficiently and without risk.

What our client said
