Encore Environment announced finalist in National Recycling Awards for Project DIVERT’s outstanding Social Value

We are proud to announce that we have been selected as a finalist in the prestigious MRW National Recycling Awards 2023 in the highly competitive Social Value category!

This recognition comes as a result of the growth of Project DIVERT, an on-going value-led sustainable intervention that is giving construction companies better social and environmental choices. It has proven to reduce waste, save carbon, and create a hugely positive impact by helping organisations in need. The winners will be announced on 16 November at a special ceremony at City Central at the HAC in London!

The MRW National Recycling Awards are the most prestigious awards in the recycling and resource management sector, with winning projects and teams rightly recognised for their achievements within the industry and further along the supply chain. The awards seek to recognise and reward excellence and inspire others, for the advancement of the sector.

Rachel Rowley, Encore Environment’s managing director said: “I am so proud of the team for all their hard work on Project DIVERT which has resulted in us being selected as a finalist! While some companies use the concept of waste diversion, it is on a commercial basis. Project Divert is integrated into our bespoke waste broker software, so our clients have access to it as part of their waste management strategies. Working with our clients, we have saved local communities nearly £30k, by not having to buy the things they need for the charity or community service. The statistics from Project Divert are one factor of its key performance, but something that is hard to quantify is the positive impact it has on our staff, our clients and the people receiving the donations. It really is transforming lives.”

As further outreach, Encore Environment has collaborated with the South Central Institute of Technology,  working with its HNC/HND technology students on a live software development brief to support Project DIVERT’s development. Encore’s aim is to pioneer sustainability in education and industry and as such has recently welcomed a student into an apprenticeship at Encore to further develop the on-going programme.

“Thank you to all our clients for your continued support and wish us luck!”
