The Enviro Gamechangers sustainability forum, hosted by Encore Environment at The Aviator Hotel in Sywell on 11 May 2023, welcomed over 30 members from the construction supply chain, clients and a group of fellow social enterprises, all with the common goal to promote environmental best practise and social value throughout their sector.
Collaboration and action
Enviro Gamechangers is addressing a serious need in the industry to encourage large construction companies to make responsible decisions that are better for the environment and have a positive impact on the wider community. As suppliers, we may be small but together we are mighty through knowledge transfer, influencing mindsets, and applying our expert knowledge and expertise around reuse and recycling, waste management, social value and carbon reduction.
At the event, we welcomed two guest speakers, firstly Dr Miles Watkins, founder and director of Stuff4Life, a circular materials solutions business. Miles has a substantial track record in the construction industry and brings sustainability expertise to general management. He is focused on creating business opportunities for a better world, embodying social value and circularity.
We then welcomed Alexina Cassidy, director at Act Now Consulting, which support businesses on their ESG and sustainability journeys with a particular emphasis on B Corp certification. She inspires and encourages businesses to go beyond the usual, to challenge the established focus on the bottom line and to look at creative and innovative ways to be ‘better’ in a challenging world.
