The Client
ISG, a global construction specialist, is committed to ensuring environments are both protected and enhanced and aims for optimal operational efficiency through reducing waste and emissions. It was working on a fit-out project in Swindon in Wiltshire.
The Challenge
The project resulted in the removal of more than 3,500 carpet tiles that were still in good condition. In supporting its sustainability goals and those of their client on the project, Encore Environment was asked to find suitable recipients for the tiles.
The Solution
Using the unique database of charities, businesses and recyclers on Encore Environment’s award-winning ProjectDIVERT app, various suitable recipients for the tiles were identified.
The Result
Encore arranged for the carpet tiles to be collected and distributed, so avoiding the use of landfill or the tiles being burned at Material Recycling Facilities. Those who benefited from these donations included Help Our Homeless in Milton Keynes, CAFLO (Community Actions for Local Opportunities), Willen Hospice in Milton Keynes, Fawkham Pre School, Milestone Academy, Salvation Army in Rushden and Squirrels Day Nursery.

“ProjectDIVERT is a great initiative of Encore’s. It’s proactive, less waste ends up in landfill, it saves companies money, and the saved material is transported to charitable organisations and put to good use! It’s a total win win!”
Barry Perkins, Director, ISG
“Being a charity organisation, we don’t have pots of surplus money, so thank you again for providing the carpet. Anything like this is a big help to us.”
Chris Pottinger, Estate Manager, Willen Hospice
