Project7 PPE Kit

Project7 – equipment donation

The Client
Project7 is a new-build, refurbishment and logistics contractor committed to high quality and best environmental practice. As part of providing environmental consultancy and waste management services across all of Project7’s sites, Encore Environment supported the client’s project at the London Stadium. This included a re-configuration of the seating that allows the stadium to convert from a football layout to an all-purpose stadium. This is undertaken annually, at the beginning and end of the football season.

The Challenge
Project7 approaches all its work with the aim of having a positive impact on the local community. During the London Stadium project, it identified surplus PPEs (personal protective equipment), including hard hats and high-visibility jackets, which it wanted to donate.

The Solution
Using its charity and business database on Encore Environment’s unique ProjectDIVERT app, a suitable recipient was found. West London College is spread over five campuses, amongst which is the West London Construction Academy, one of the UK’s first acadamies specifically built to teach construction skills.

The Result
The college received the personal protective equipment, which will benefit students who can learn a wide range of skills, from bricklaying and plastering to baseline carpentry and kitchen fitting, as well as working on a live site.

Estimating a cost for placing these items in a skip is difficult, but there clearly was a saving. Regardless of that, they avoided recovery at a Material Recycling Facility and managed to benefit others with their donation.
