ProjectDIVERT – Accommodation Concern

The Client

ISG are a global construction specialist committed to promoting their sustainability agenda through it’s business operations and goals. ISG have placed emphasis on their mission to build a sustainable future and set clear sustainable business strategy targets for future projects, which include; reducing their waste, reducing their emissions and protecting the plant.

The Challenge

Completing a branch refit in Wigston for client Nationwide Building Society, ISG removed approx. 70 carpet tiles from site in a reusable condition.

Keen to challenge traditional routes of disposal, ISG reached out to Encore Environment in hope to find an innovative way to divert the carpet tiles from landfill.

The Solution

We used ProjectDIVERT, an innovative environmental services app unique to Encore, to identify a local homelessness prevention charity who were in desperate need of new flooring. Working tirelessly to provide temporary housing to individuals with no fixed abode, the charity had little resources or funding towards refurbishments and gladly accepted the carpet tiles as a donation from ISG.

The Results

Encore Environment supported ISG’s sustainability goals, including reducing construction waste, by achieving 100% diversion rate from landfill. This further resulted in 80% cost savings and 17kg carbon savings; overall, improving costs, carbon savings and Corporate Social Responsibility for the client.

What the charity said:

“This has made such a difference for the resident who states ‘I now feel warm and cosy in my flat and I am looking forward'”
