ProjectDIVERT – Pallet Repair Company

The Client

Morgan Lovell, the UK’s leader in office design and fitouts, design offices with the environment and people in mind. Dedicated to reducing carbon emissions and energy consumption, Morgan Lovell ensures each fit out minimises its environmental impact; from design to construction and operation.

The Challenge

On completion of an office fitout, Morgan Lovell were left with 2 tonnes of wooden pallets, which were no longer of need.  With goals to reduce the environmental impact  of construction, Morgan Lovell turned to Encore Environment to find a sustainable solution that would avoid traditional waste disposal routes.

The Solution

Using ProjectDIVERT, an award-winning app designed by Encore, we located a nearby pallet company, who collected the damaged pallets for repair, rather than disposal. ProjectDIVERT’s unique database meant that we were able to innovatively reprocess the wooden pallets – not only improving the quality and associated value of the materials, but also saving carbon by avoiding landfill.

The Results

By identifying on-site materials that could be recycled back into the supply chain, Encore achieved 54% cost savings for the client. The diversion also resulted in 8.8 miles diverted by locating nearby recycling opportunities and a further 400kg carbon savings from transportation as well as avoiding landfill.

What our client said

“It makes sense wherever we have excess or unwanted materials that we divert them to a good cause, or an end destination of reuse. Avoiding skips is our aim.”
