ProjectDIVERT – Victoria Street

The Client

Cast are a turnkey design and build fit out specialist, working primarily in the commercial office sector. A core Cast value is maintaining transparency with an aim to operate sustainably by doing what is right for their clients, the end-user, their teams and the wider public. The founding members of Cast are committed to ensuring these values are at the core of everything they do and work hard to give back wherever they can.

The Challenge

On completion of an office refit in Holborn, Cast were left with six grey credenzas and a large amount of kitchen crockery, all of which were identified in good condition.

As part of its key operational values to reduce carbon footprint, minimise waste and support communities, Cast turned to Encore Environment to find a new home for the office furniture.

The Solution

Using Encore’s unique web-based tool, ProjectDIVERT, we identified a local diversion opportunity that would not only improve costs, carbon savings and the Corporate Social Responsibility of our client but also better social and economic outcomes for the environment. ProjectDIVERT located a charity nearby, Accommodation Concern, in major need of lockers and other everyday essential items, such as kitchenware. Managing the logistics, we liaised with the charity to arrange all aspects of the donation, including full duty of care for the transport of the items.

The Results

Encore successfully reached 100% diversion from landfill. Furthermore, we achieved 48% cost savings for our client by employing a cheaper, more direct means of disposal than traditional routes. Furthermore, the ProjectDIVERT initiative contributed to the client’s social value by making a genuine contribution to the live’s of people in the area. Dionne Anderson, Business Development Manager at Accommodation Concern, said: “Accommodation Concern would like to extend their thanks to Encore Environment and Cast for the valuable donations they have provided. The most recent being lockable cabinets which provides a safe and secure place for our clients to store their belongings when either homeless or in mixed accommodation. The working relationship and support from the team is very much valued and appreciated.”

What our client said

“It is great knowing that we have hopefully helped families and charities!”
