International women's day

International Women’s Day 2024

Encore Environment is proudly in support of International Women’s Day 2024, aligning with the UN theme, “Invest in women: Accelerate progress”.

Today, we celebrate the invaluable contributions of women globally by acknowledging their impact on society, and support the UN in recognising that ‘gender equality and women’s well-being in all aspects of life is more crucial than ever if we want to create prosperous economies and a healthy planet’.

To commemorate the day in our office, some of our wonderful staff have shared personal reflections, highlighting their experiences and professional development journeys. By sharing their experience, as a business we continue to recognise the importance of creating a work environment where women can thrive, contribute, and lead. 70% of women at Encore Environment are in leadership roles which is consistent in Encore’s ‘style’ to disrupt the status quo, in what is a traditionally male dominated sector.

Rachel Rowley, Encore Environment’s managing director set out to revolutionise how the construction industry manages waste. She is known in the industry as a disruptor and innovator by challenging the conventional routes of waste disposal and developing and implementing award-winning sustainable interventions that are giving construction companies better environmental choices! These result in zero waste to landfill, waste transparency, waste reduction, carbon savings, and also creates a huge amount of social value by helping local organisations in need. She has built a loyal, dedicated and skilled team around her, motivating other women to be leaders in the waste sector and supporting them to do so.
