ProjectDIVERT – Eurostar

The Client

Verity Interiors are a nationwide fit-out specialist with a commitment to building a sustainable future by reducing their waste and their emissions. Verity Interiors are also actively involved in community work and have placed emphasis on their mission help support local people through charity work.

The Challenge

Completing an office fit-out for their global client, Eurostar, Verity Interiors removed 10 x desks and desk dividers, 10 x chairs, 1 x high level roller unit and 3 x low level roller units from site in a reusable condition.

Keen to challenge traditional routes of disposal, Verity reached out to Encore Environment in hope to find an innovative way to divert these items of furniture from landfill.

The Solution

We used ProjectDIVERT, an innovative environmental services platform unique to Encore, to identify a nearby youth club, New Horizon Youth Club, who were in need of new furniture for their facilities. New Horizon Youth Club work tirelessly to provide a safe and stable place for young vulnerable people to live. With limited funding available, the charity have little resources towards refurbishments and gladly accepted the furniture as a donation from our client, Verity Interiors.

The Results

Encore Environment supported Verity’s sustainability goals, including reducing construction waste, by achieving 100% diversion rate from landfill. This further resulted in 21% cost savings and 2.4kg carbon savings; overall, improving costs, carbon savings and Corporate Social Responsibility for the client.

What the charity said:

“Thank you for the donation of office chairs to New Horizon Youth Centre. It is really useful to receive these donations!”
